FOR ALL IRA OWNERS
The year 2010 will be a very important year for anyone who may benefit from converting all or part of their traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. Starting in 2010, anyone can now do a conversion. Previously, if you made over $100,000 per year, you were ineligible to do so. That restriction is being lifted, making it possible for ANYONE to do a conversion.
If the conversion is done in 2010 only, you also have the option of spreading out the tax liability over 2-3 years, depending on what time of year you do it. This will be a tremendous opportunity for many people to change their future IRA distributions from taxable to tax-free, but planning should start now. There are a number of factors to be considered to determine whether or not a conversion is right for you, and meeting with a financial advisor who knows the pros and cons of a conversion is essential.
A good place to start would be a presentation I will be giving on Tuesday, November 10, from 7-8:00 P.M. at Unwined Wine Bar and Shop near PW grocery store in Almaden Valley. It will be an informal discussion, with plenty of time for questions. As well as getting lots of good information that could affect your retirement plans, all attendees will also receive a complimentary glass of wine.
RSVP to Jim Slacke at (408) 213-0042 by November 6 to reserve your seat.
