Welcome to the SJBC forum, an open discussion about cycling in Almaden Valley.

I am bad about riding in the cold, fog - but, would love to ride with a group or individual during the winter to get me motivated. I can ride M- F after 11 am and weekends when my husband is not racing his bike - how do you become an official SJ Bike Club friend or member

Hi Denise, There is a group of us that try to ride during the week around noon. We usually meet at PW plaza. Feel free to give me a call (408 892-0498) and join in. I also run a weekly SJBC Saturday morning training ride that leaves from PW plaza at 9AM. It is a 50 mile ride down to Gilroy and back and is fairly fast averaging around 18mph. You can get all email notifications from SJBC by joining the SJBC Yahoo group. You do not have to be a member to participate in the training rides and all are welcome. You'll find more info at http://.teamsanjose.org. Hope to ride with you soon. Cheers, Richard

i rode for the first time in about 5month and realize that I stink - from Almaden doing the Uvas loop I was avtg more like 14 - 15 mph. If you get some slower peeps, keep me posted
Richard Treadway Comment by Richard Treadway on January 25, 2009 at 4:38am
I'm one of those slower peeps :-) Besides, 15mph is very good especially on your own. There are several of us that are very happy with that speed. I often go out for a noon ride and 15 mph speed is what we do. Patty Thoman, a riding partner, who also lives in Almaden and I have been riding the Willow Springs loop regularly at the speed. I'm in Boston this week (Burrr 8 degrees today) but I 'll be back next week. You should definitely join us for a noon ride. Cheers, Richard
